COLORIMETERS (ION SPECIFIC METERS)

Specific-ion colorimeters provide a simple, inexpensive and rapid means of field surveillance. The colour of every object we see is determined by a process of absorption and emission of light by the molecules of which it is made. Colorimetric analysis is based on the principle that many substances react with each other
and form a product whose colour is determined by the concentration of the substance to be measured.
Hanna colorimeters use single colour LED's (light emitting diodes) that emit a single wavelength specific to the substance being measured. The optical distance is measured by the dimension of the cuvette containing the sample. The instruments photoelectric cell collects the radiated light emitted buy the sample and converts it into an electrical current producing a potential in mV. This is then converted into a direct reading in mg/l of concentration of the sample within the cuvette being measured and displayed on the LCD of the instrument.

This is ten times better than comparable models on the market that measure in only single decimal points. The meter is equipped with an infrared LED as a light source which has a long life - it maintains constant emissions that will last as long as the instrument. The wavelength peaks at 890 nm, which provides the required intensity of diffused light even in samples with low turbidity values, and also reduces the interference from colors. The meter is very easy to use - all operations can be carried out with a few keys and troubleshooting functions can be performed with error codes on the LCD. Moreover, the meters versatility and durability ensure low maintenance. Sensitive to the users need to work with properly calibrated meters, Hanna has equipped HI-93703 with a unique GLP (good laboratory practice) feature. The GLP circuit automatically stores and retrieves the last calibration data. At the touch of a button these data, together with the time and date, are displayed allowing the user to maintain an accurate calibration schedule.

SOLUTIONS - ONE USE SACHETS

Our sachets include 20ml of solution certified against a NIST standard ensuring accuracy for precise calibration every time. Sachets are ideal if you need to calibrate for pH or conductivity away from the laboratory - perhaps during
environmental studies or in field applications. Pre-mixed and sealed against air contamination and daylight, the solutions are fresh and ready to use at any time and are very convenient - no need to carry large bottles of solutions around or to mix buffers on site with distilled water if using capsules. Shelf life is very long - a minimum of 2 years with the expiry date foil stamped onto each and every sachet. To use simply tear open the sachet and insert the electrode or probe into the
calibration fluid - then calibrate your meter. Compatible for calibration with meters from all manufacturers, these sachets can be used with any meter. Each sachet includes a useful temperature v pH / conductivity or TDS value chart
for quick reference.

SOLUTIONS - BOTTLES

In many labs, buffer solutions are often prepared from capsules, tablets and chemical powders, presuming that they are more accurate and less expensive when 'freshly' made. This, however, is subject to the quality and weight of the chemicals and distilled water as well as many other factors such as temperature control and the instrumentation used for their preparation. Our buffers are prepared with analytical grade chemicals in a clean laboratory environment and using high-tech reference material. pH buffers are certified to +/- 0.01 accuracy at 25 C and carry individual expiration dates. Some solutions are also supplied in FDA approved amber bottles which are impervious to direct light. All solutions are produced against instruments calibrated by high purity NIST standard reference material. Only analytical grade chemicals are used in such quantities as to guarantee accuracy. All calibration solutions are also supplied with a colour-coded label containing a pH versus temperature chart. This time-saving reference table prevents errors
during calibration, especially in outdoor applications.
