TUBING AND FOOT VALVES
Tubing and Foot Valves

Waterra tubing and foot valves are available in a range of sizes to enable pumping from boreholes ranging from 10mm to 200mm in diameter. Tubing and foot valves are best used when dedicated to individual boreholes to avoid cross-contamination.

They can be operated manually at shallow depths, but by using the PowerPack PP1, better pumping performance is achieved at depths of up to 85m.

WATERRA INERTIAL PUMPS - HIGH FLOW SYSTEM

HF System
This is our largest tubing and valve system for use where higher pumping rates are required. The system is typically used in 100mm and larger boreholes to a maximum depth of 40 metres. Manual operation is possible to approximately 10 metres, but it is best operated mechanically with the PowerPack PP1. If water levels are within suction depth, pumping can be carried out in conjunction with the SP1 suction pump.

Maximum flow rate (under ideal conditions) is between 10 and 15 litres per minute.

The system can also be used for cleaning and development of 50mm diameter monitoring boreholes using a Waterra Surge Disc.

Normal Operating Parameters
Borehole Diameters 30 to 200mm
Depth of Operation Manual: up to 10m
Powered*: up to 40m
Pumping Rate Up to 15 l/min
* using PowerPack PP1

High Flow Stainless Foot Valves and Accessories - Internal Fit
The NEW "VS" range of low profile, round-headed, internal-fitting inertial pump valves provide minimum hydraulic resistence and maximum pumping efficiency. Designed with double screw threads, they are simply and quickly attached to tubing using a standard Hex key (supplied separately).

For sediment removal and development of 50 mm diameter monitoring boreholes, try out our new Teflon (PTFE) Surge Discs which simply fit between the VS valve and inertial pump tubing.

High Flow Delrin Foot Valves and Accessories - External Fit
Our original Waterra foot valves are moulded from Delrin plastic to provide a high quality plastic valve for general use. Unlike other inferior plastics, Delrin has low absorptive / desorptive properties and is ideal for routine environmental sampling programmes.

Surge Blocks for High Flow System Tubing (48mm OD)
Surge Blocks
Delrin Surge Blocks are used in 50mm diameter boreholes to enhance borehole development and remove sediment. The combination of mechanical surging and high volume pumping can remove water containing silt and fine sand without clogging. Add water to the borehole if necessary to loosen silt.

The SBHF Surge Block fits over the High Flow tubing and is held in place with a stainless steel grub screw directly above the Waterra foot valve.

WATERRA INERTIAL PUMPS - STANDARD SYSTEM

STD System
This is our most popular pumping system for use in 50mm diameter monitoring boreholes but can also be used in boreholes from 30 to 100 mm in diameter. Manual operation is possible to approximately 15 metres, but it is best operated mechanically with the PowerPack PP1 which can extend the pumping range to over 60 metres (85 metres using STDX tubing). If water levels are within suction depth, pumping can be carried out in conjunction with the SP1 suction pump.

Maximum flow rate (under ideal conditions) is between 6 and 8 litres per minute.

The system can also be used for cleaning and development of 50mm diameter monitoring boreholes using a Waterra Surge Disc.

WATERRA INERTIAL PUMPS - INSTALLATION TOOLS AND SAMPLING ACCESSORIES

Installation Tools
The Waterra tube cutter (WTC-1) is faster and safer to use than a hacksaw or utility knife and provides straight, clean cuts to tubing with no burring.

The Waterra valve wrench (WVR-1F) is manufactured exclusively for use with Waterra foot valves and is used to tighten-up or unscrew valves from tubing.

Picture Code Description

Volatile Sampling Tubing
Volatile Sampling Tube
A 6mm diameter siphon tube (VSK-30) can be used to collect samples from inertial pump tubing to avoid sample contact with air at surface and provide a smooth laminar flow of water. Tubing can be supplied in HDPE or Teflon.

The technique is best carried out using Standard Waterra tubing, though it is also possible with High Flow Waterra tubing.

Code Description
VSK-30 Volatile Sample Tubing - HDPE (6mm OD x 4mm ID) x 30m coil
VSK-30T Volatile Sample Tubing - FEP(Teflon) (6mm OD x 4mm ID) x 30m coil
