TRAINING COURSES
Waterra was founded in 1991 by hydrogeologists David Charlesworth and Peter Dumble to make available much needed and simple to use groundwater monitoring equipment to other groundwater professionals. It has always been a passion of ours that equipment is used appropriately by the end user, and that we maintain an impartial position in promoting different types of sampling and monitoring device. We believe this has served us and our customers well over the last 16 years. In this aim, training and CPD for ourselves and our customers is a fundamental tool in our business strategy.

Given the range of sampling devices and complexity of guidance available worldwide today, the need for training and understanding of equipment and methods is even more important than it was in 1991. The Silsoe courses (below) are a unique opportunity to obtain hands-on experience and guidance from experienced practitioners. These courses are carefully designed to provide fundamental training whilst also providing plenty of new and emerging material to make them worthwhile for experienced hydrogeologists and other professionals interested in groundwater.

Waterra also offer daytime training courses to companies in your own offices (UK and Ireland). These presentations have been hugely successful and are frequently used by companies to reinforce and update their knowledge of groundwater monitoring and remediation equipment. If you have a group of people who would like a 1 hour presentation with the opportunity to see equipment, please contact us. CPD certification for attendance at these presentations is available.

10 March 2008: Groundwater Monitoring Boreholes: Supervision and Construction

There are few practical opportunities to learn about good practice in borehole construction and supervision. This course provides delegates with a unique opportunity to see examples of several common drilling rigs in operation and to learn about key issues when specifying or supervising the drilling and installation of groundwater monitoring boreholes.

11 March 2008: Multi-Level Samplers: A Practical Guide to Installation Methods

This course is a rare opportunity to learn about multi-level sampling devices, their applications and uses. The course provides a theoretical overview from Dr Gary Wealthall of BGS with practical tuition in the construction and installation of multi-level systems.

12 March 2008: Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Methodology

Over 500 delegates have attended the Silsoe Groundwater Monitoring Field Sampling Course since it first started in April 1994. The course in March 2008 will be the 21st time this highly successful course has been held. The course evolves year by year in response to changes in equipment, guidance and standards and provides a unique opportunity to learn about and be involved with sampling from real boreholes whilst carrying out field measurements using a wide range of sampling equipment. Impartial advice and instruction is provided by leading practitioners.

13 March 2008: Data Analysis and Interpretation
This course provides practical guidance and tuition for those involved in the handling, presentation and interpretation of groundwater monitoring data.
