Waterra ClearView disposable double valve PVC hydrocarbon bailers are an inexpensive sampling option for collecting oily product samples from the surface of water in a borehole.

Use for
- collecting samples from thicker (>5 cm) LNAPL (floating product) layers

They are best used where the product thickness is greater than 5 cm. (For thinner layers, Waterra recommend using conventional Single valve bailers).

Hydrocarbon bailers are designed with a larger diameter inlet section to reduce surface tension and use a single polyethylene (PE) ball valve which floats in water and sinks in light oil (LNAPL). Water will drain from the base of the bailer as it is retrieved leaving only the product remaining.

These bailers are simple to use and provide a visual estimate of oil product thickness within a borehole.
